What're you reading?

the old one seems to have disappeared so here's a new version. I'm on with 'The Faerie Queene' by Spenser and 'On The Road' by Kerouac.

House of Leaves. Love it already, it's like a huge puzzle. Then I'm sort of reading Proust and then all of the Romantic poetry in the world and some other book that I've sort of lost interest in.

Loadsa higgldy piggldy chapters from history books. Industrial Revolution and Enlightenment. Need to grab some local Leeds/general history of Yorkshire stuff tomorrow for joy and to help me understand my lecturer's annecdotes/we discussed my old home and I cannit believe I didn't look it up when I lived there. And I'm still working through the history of Coca Cola. So good even though I don't like Coke, but it's slow going cos I feel guilty reading it when I have uni reading/it's not something relaxing so it needs my full attention. On the plus side it can be dipped in and out of. Current omg bit is about how GIs used to ask their gals to wash their um downstairs with it before going for a visit. And for fun I'm reading David Copperfield. I've not read much though cos the print's small and it's printed on bible paper and it makes me feel guilty cos it's in no way relatable to my uni stuff. Thrilling post from me as per usual. Ramblerambleramble.

Recently just finished the Godfather, which was a great read. Then carried on with some book written by Alan Sugar, but after about page 130 gave up miserably because all he seemed to do was rant and be egoistic about himself. Now, for some bizarre reason, I'm reading Harry Potter: The Order of the Phoenix; probably because I haven't visited WHSmiths lately. It's surprisingly really interesting and enthralls you to carry on reading.

I'm bout 1/4 of the way into A Feast For Crows by George R R Martin. Blitzed through the other books before this and alongside/inbetween i've gone through When God Was A Rabbit (not my thing), A Sense Of An Ending (most ridiculous pomp i've ever read). Won an Amazon voucher other day and I've got Brave New World, Florence and Giles and Jamrach's Menagerie coming. Dunno why I've bought more books cos I've already got dozens of unread ones on my shelves.

Just finished Marabou Stork Nightmares by Irvine Welsh which was really, really good. Highly recommend. On with The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky at the minute, about 250 pages (third of the way) through, hard work but enjoyable, as expected.

I've just finished Florence and Giles by John Harding. It was brilliant and it sucked me in something crazy. I finished it in a little over a day it was that good. Never read a horror before, and where I'd say it wasn't a spine tingling hair raising horror, the ending was very cold and it wrapped things up without telling you what had happened, you do know though. Well worth a read. My colleague has it but if anyone wants to borrow it then i'll happily post it to them.

Salem's Lot. I've been reading to read it for ages and ages and only just got around to it. I'm about 2/3 of the way through and I'm enjoying it quite a lot.

I'm currently about 40% through Autumn by David Moody at the moment, read both Day by Day Armageddon, and Day by Day Armageddon: Beyond Exile by J. L. Bourne in the last 2 weeks as well. Really into my zombie survival/post-apocalyptic books at the moment.

Highly recommend Procession of the Dead, I'm a big fan of Darren Shan. Also The Zombie Survival Guide is a good book, from what I remember of it. I was a bit iffy about World War Z though, but it's still a pretty decent book.

Nice one, yeah I read The Saga of Darren Shan years ago and loved it, started re-reading it recently. Have you read the whole 'The City' trilogy?

I think so, can't remember if I've read the last one, but I think I have, aha. Yeah, I loved the Darren Shan saga, as well as the Demonata one, read through both series at least a dozen times each.

In the long and strenuous process of reading The Triumph Of The Sun by Wilbur Smith. Even though it is highly enthralling, the book itself is absolutely humongous, taking at least a two minutes to read each page. Very nearly overcome this demanding feat as I'm down to the last 100 pages. Next book on my horizon is Con Iggulden's Conqueror.

I finished reading Battle Royale (the novel). I have never got so attached to characters when reading then I did with this book. I got drawn into the book and started to become obsessed by it, it is a fantastic read.
