FOCUS GROUP ANSWERS - Update 22 May 2009 19:24 (permalink)

We will not manage to get the pedestrian walkway built in time for this year’s festival but we are still hoping to do this in the future.

The new traffic routing is going ahead and more details are available here http://leedsfestival.com/info/index.aspx?id=414#id2543

Early entry tickets have sold out for this year now

We have doubled the number of HATs onsite and they will have the most up to date information regarding running order changes.

The tent amnesty will be in place again and there will be multiple points onsite for you to drop off your unwanted tents at - more details will be published on the website soon

Food stalls – we have asked the company that organise the food stalls to provide healthier choices, a vegetarian stall in the campsites, and to discuss with the stalls “meal deals” and best value options.

We aren’t able to do the new design of water points this year but hope to do this in the future.

The focus group meeting was soooo long ago that I've forgotton the specifics but I'm pretty sure FR have been given the go-ahead to make a proper pathway, not just a clearing in the mud, or those grate things. So that the main lane is faster moving and less muddy..........I think thats what she meant.

It's a shame about the water points not changing bt everything else seems quite good. Seems like we got most of what we asked for...any news on the JD saloon?

yeh the walkway was that honeycomb design thing, where the grass grows through it and stuff so it all stays together. shame it can't make it this year but nevermind, hopefully weather will be alright!

Could they not just put those metal sheets down like they do on the exit road of Red Gate 2 when it passes through the fields?
The footage of Glasto that I saw on telly seemed to show almost every walkway covered in these

"Bar staff will ask for proof of age ID whenever the customer appears to be under 18. However, if you are over 18 but feel you will be asked for your ID a lot on site because you are fortunate to look youthful please get one of our new “over 18’s wristbands”.

This is a new voluntary venture for anyone who wants it and the aim is that it will help our bar staff, gate staff and other local retailers to do a quick check for anyone that seems around 18 years old.

It will stop you having to carry your ID every time you want a drink on site, or want to bring alcohol into the campsites from the supermarkets.  It is a trial and so please help us with it.  There will a tent outside the arena entrance where you will be able to get the over 18’s band once you are in the event.

You will need valid ID in order to get the wristband and this will be a a PASS hologrammed ID card, a full photo card driving licence issued by the DVLA or a passport. If there is any doubt as to the age of the customer they will be refused service. The onus is on the individual to demonstrate unequivocally that they are 18 years old or over and if the individual cannot do so they will not be served."

                love

The wristband exchange will onces again be located by the campsite gates.'

Gay. Have they tried addressing the ridiculously large and slow moving queue that this caused?

yeah, if i remember correctly there will be mobile wristbanders if thats a suitable name for them, to move down the queue and do it easily for everyone else, its done at glasto and its successful there, people just need to realise that change takes time, or would u prefer a large amount of non ticket holders running around, who are a large proportion who go there to steal ****

I thought the old system was a lot better. You did still need your ticket to get onto the site, so there wouldn't be any 'non ticket holders' running around the site. You just had to go to a Wristband Exchange tent in the village in your own time when you were sttled etc.. It was much easier. But I guess if they're making improvments on last years system then we'll see :)

but the old system meant you could walk in with 2 people, 1 person stays at tent, 1 person walks out, hands ticket to someone else, and 2 people walk back in..

3 people now inside, and only 2 tickets, repeat, and so it continues.. However, this new system means that everyone who gets through, has a ticket... the queue wasn't that bad for me when I got there last year...

That queue was horrendous, then I had to manouvre myself to be able to place my hand under the railings for my wristband, I'm only ickle and it hurt my back lots :(
