How do i get there? 17 February 2008 01:09 (permalink)
Where the heckers is it?
Leeds Festival 2008 will take place at Bramham Park. Bramham is located just off the A1, 5 miles south of Wetherby, 15 miles west of York and 10 miles East of Leeds.

The festival site address is: Bramham Park, near Leeds

I'm Driving, I know generally whereabouts the site is....but not how to get there:

Directions  The traffic routings for Leeds Festival have changed very significantly this year. All routes to Leeds Festival start via the A1 or M1. There is no access to Leeds Festival from any other route, so please travel to the A1, M1 or A1 (M) whether you are coming from the south or the north, east or the west and then follow the signs from the motorway.

If you follow routes other than the motorway by checking on a map, or using your sat nav, you will not be able to get to site. Not only will these routes not lead you to the festival gates, but they may well lead you to a road block. You won’t save any time at all and you will also threaten the success of the plan as a whole.

Nearer the time, we hope that festival sat nav routings that you can download onto your sat navs will be published here so that you can use your sat nav to get you to the festival routing and into site.

Please travel at a safe but reasonable speed once on our routes. If every car dawdles for one minute more than is necessary, it would take us nearly a fortnight to get you all in. The volume of cars attending Leeds Festival mean that the success of the plan relies on each of you helping us so please please follow the signs from the motorway, do not stop on the access roads, park as directed and most of all travel to the festival safely. The access roads have temporary “no stopping” traffic orders on them and the police will be enforcing this. Remember to use the toilet before you get near the site, and please respect the environment and don’t drop litter on your way to and from the festival.

There is absolutely no access to Leeds Festival whatsoever from the A64 travelling eastbound out of Leeds and you will meet a road block. There is no access to Leeds Festival from Junction 46 of the M1 or from the ring road or from the A58.

All routes to Leeds Festival are from the A1 or M1. Travel to the A1 and follow the signage.

By Car

If you must bring your car, please consider the following in the interests of the environment and also to reduce congestion:

•  Transport as many people as possible with you
•  Travel at off peak times (the peak time for arriving onsite is 08.00 to 14.00 on the Thursday)
•  Consider car sharing

Car Parking

Parking is separate to the campsites in adjacent fields.

MANY OF THE CAR PARKS HAVE MOVED THIS YEAR. YOU CAN GET TO ALL OF THE CAMPSITES FROM ALL OF THE CAR PARKS.

Please make a note of the colour / name of your car park so you can find your car again. Please follow the instructions of the traffic marshalls and park where they direct you to park. You can get to all of the campsites from all of the car parks. The car parks are parked in particular order to maximize the volume of cars coming into site at peak periods. If you try and cross the site to get into a different car park you will delay other cars considerably so please help us out.

CAR PARKING ON SITE IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF AN EVENT TICKET. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ANYWHERE ELSE AS ANY CARS PARKED ILLEGALLY WILL BE REMOVED.

Directions By Road

If you are driving to the festival, please drive carefully. Remember that traffic will be heavy along the festival routes - so please drive safely and carefully. All routes to the festival are from the A1 or M1. Travel to the A1 or M1 whether from the north, south, east or west and follow the festival signs.

FROM A1 COMING FROM THE SOUTH
The route to the festival will be signposted from Junction 35 northbound

FROM M1 COMING FROM THE SOUTH
The route to the festival will be signposted from Junction 32 northbound

FROM M62 COMING FROM THE EAST
The route to the festival will be signed from junction 33 westbound

FROM M62 COMING FROM THE WEST
The route to the festival will be signed from junction 29 eastbound

FROM A1/ A1(M) COMING FROM THE NORTH
The route to the festival will be signed from junction 46 southbound

And once I reach the festival site?

On the A64 east bound there are 3 gates.

Red gate 1 - entrance for the drop off point and taxis

Red gate 2 - exit only

Red gate 3 - weekend parking

On Thorner Road.

Blue gate - guest and staff parking.

There are signs on the A1M and the A64 in both directions.

To access all gates you need to take the exit off the A1M, 1 exit north of the A64 exit. This will take you in a large circle about the site in their traffic management system. It take a bit of time but it helps to keep the traffic moving and not build up too much.

You cannot access the red gates if you're travelling westbound on the A64 toward Leeds.

Weekend parking - it's first come first serve. If you get there late, you'll wind up parking somewhere near brown campsite and have a heck of a long walk to get to the campsites nearer the arena.

Drop off and coach travellers. If you're not driving you'll probably come in via Yellow gate (I think it's called that). It's near yellow bubble and campsites closer to the arena.

There is no additional charge for parking and there is parking allowance for one car per ticket holder. They will want to look at your ticket when you first pull into the car park.

The drop off point at Yellow gate is also where you can pick the Tesco shuttle up from.

Right, We know how to get to the train station or coach station, what now?

Two choices shuttle bus or taxi. I heavily reccomend the shuttle bus.
SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE last years information, not likely to change drastically

There will be frequent shuttle buses running from Leeds City Railway Station and Leeds Coach Station to Bramham Park. There is also a service from York Station on Thursday and back to York Station on Monday.

The shuttle bus stops will be signposted from the Railway Stations and Coach Station.

There is plenty of capacity on the buses for all of your stuff and you will not have to walk far to the campsites onsite from the bus station nor will you have to walk far from the Railway Station / Coach Station to the bus stop.

The shuttle bus service will also run to and from the Tesco Extra supermarket at Seacroft so that you can go and stock up on essentials although there is also a supermarket onsite selling everything you might need at the registered retail price. Consider using the shuttle bus to get to and from Tescos if you need to go there as it is likely to be much quicker and easier than leaving the site with your car and coming back in again.

Using public transport and the shuttle bus is the best way to arrive at Leeds Festival. The shuttle buses get you nearer to a festival entrance than any other means of arriving onsite, they run regularly, the operation should be smooth and hassle free and there will be enough shuttle buses to meet the demand.

The shuttle buses will drop you off very close to the railway station or bus station and you will not have to queue as long to get on a shuttle bus as you would in a car to get to or leave the car park. Plus you can make friends on the way, enjoy a drink and feel good about your reduced impact on the environment and the fact that a part of your fare is being donated to charity!

The fares for this year's shuttle bus service are being held at the same price as last year to encourage you to use it. The journey time from Leeds to Bramham Park is around 45 minutes. note: this is information from last year. This information for this year has not been released yet.

The shuttle bus fares for 2006 and 2007 were:
  • £4 single from Leeds Railway / Coach Station to Bramham Park
  • £7.50 open return from Leeds Railway / Coach Station or York to / from Bramham Park
  • £5 cheap day return from Leeds Railway / Coach Station to / from Bramham Park
  • £15 travel card as many journeys as you like to any of the destinations from Wednesday to Monday.
  • £3 return to Tescos.

You can buy tickets on the bus or at the bus station onsite at Yellow Gate.

and last but not least, click here for the site map

As its so far in the future timetables, train information and the rest have not been released yet.
