Depends what you tastes are, yellow/white for partying (some say that's where the "dickheads" go). Blue/Red is in between, not too quiet and closer to arena. Orange (has now been split up if I remember right) is loud if you camp near hill as the DJ booth and fair ground is right there but quieter near the perimeter. Green/Brown are generally quieter and please don't camp in brown if you intend on staying up all night shouting as it's the family camp :D

My personal preferance is most likely mid-orange.

Have a shufty at this thread :)

That's got details about every campsite and some other helpful stuff too!

I stayed in Yellow Bubble last year and it wasn't too noisy at all (which surprised me) and was really well controlled on the last night. The year before i stayed in Green which was slightly quieter, but not by much at all.

She was like a candle in the wind, unreliable.

For me, despite some nobs, I've always preferred Yellow. It's flat so you don't have any of that camping on hills ****. Also last year there was LOADS more room than usual. We had space for more tents around ours for the whole weekend.

Don't camp near the jax or the bins. Or at the edge of a hill like we did. When it rains you start to slide.. Bad times

If you like to party, I would have to say yellow, but in an ideal world stay awake through the sunday night. Nearly had my tent go up with me and a mate in it on the monday morning, which wasn't a nice way to wake up, but it had just been the people in the tent next to us burning theirs and not thinking, they didn't mean harm, even though they nearly caused it. Wasn't too bad though, and I'm sure its not that common for stuff like that to happen, and the bonus is after bands, you can get back to your tent and start drinking quicker, if its muddy, you dont have to worry about trecking down blue hill, which if it rains bad can be insanely bad. As for dickheads in yellow, I haven't seen anything particuarly bad.. theres definetly a few who will be dicks, but its the same allover the festival really.

White I hear is pretty similar to yellow, but if I remember right it can flood, and the relentless will keep you up till it shuts at about 3, so avoid if you want sleep.

I'd personally avoid orange; I've never camped there but I hear it can be a bit dodgy, and definetly avoid orange fun fair, because the rides will do your tits in.

Reds pretty cool, its quite a bit more chilled, but when I camped there in 08 it was dead by 2am.. Also quite a walk from the arena if you fancy going back to your tent for something in between bands, and can also be quite a walk at the end when all the bands finish. Mostly sound people there in my experience though, it was just a bit dead for my liking. Though interestingly the only experience I've had of anything being stolen was when we where in red, and somebody stole my mates 18 crate of carling and replaced it with a 24 of carlsberg.

Blue I am clueless about, haven't heard anything bad going on their really save for a few tent burnings on the sunday night.

Green/Brown I wouldn't go near unless you have a family, or are comedy sized and can't make the walk to a decent campsite.

Thats my view on all of the camps.

                TL;DR
Yellow if you like atmosphere, stupid chants/singalongs, meeting lots of drunk people and can put up with being up till atleast 4am every day.
Red if you like some sleep, and a calmer area.
Green if you have a family.

to be fair, red isn't that far away from the arena walking
                  and it's just so chilled.

This is true. I meant if you want to pop to your tent for a quick can/smoke inbetween bands though. Guess its all down to personal preferance, and if you like a drink during the day without having to pay extortionate prices/miss bands.

Whats the best campsite for newbies? There is a group of 16-18 year olds who have never been to festivals before... We would like some sleep I suppose but we want fun aswell?

Orange. It's where we went first time, it's not too hectic but still lively! Have fun!

Yellow. If your looking to socialise a bit, definetly yellow. You can sleep at any time really, theres just a bit more noise before like 4am.. bands dont start till 12, so like, even if you go to sleep at 4am thats still a sound nights sleep.

Yellow is the perfect campsite really. It's close to the arena, great atmosphere, and I dunno about everyone else but the people in our surrounding area at least were no trouble at all.

did orange in 08 and 09, had a group of about 15 of us and was pretty cool/lively but there are a couple of drawbacks in my opinion ...

Orange hill. Especially when you arrive on thursday at midnight and it rained during the day and because it's your first festival you've wildly overpacked and you have to lug all your junk up there but you're slipping/dodging dickheads throwing themselves down in bins and your mates who arrived on wednesday are trolleyed and not helping at all. Maybe too specific... ?

The walk to the arena - Don't mind a bit of walking but it's just a bit annoying if you find yourself goin back and forwards like so: Wake up, right there's a good band on early, let's go watch them. WALK. Right let's get some cans in before the next band we fancy. WALK BACK. Right good few bands then the headliners. WALK. Yeah that was sweet, i guess we're just meting back at the tents. WALK BACK. Let's go to the silent disco/relentless/meet friends in yellow. WALK. and the final (or not) return journey. You probably got my point at some stage of that little bit.

Orange fairground. First year schoolboy error. never got to sleep, but I did get to learn the fairground music off by heart including sound effects, where it loops, which songs feature in it...
