Brown is the quietest campsite and has the most space because it's the furthest from the arena. We camped there last year and had a great time. There were quite a few families camped there and it's also were the campervan/caravan area is. The best campsite at the festival in my opinion.....no d****heads, no trouble just everyone having a chilled, relaxing time

I stayed in brown camp last year It was a hell of a lot better for space compared to every other camp I wouldn't dream of having a camp fire in any other camp than brown because everywhere else the tents were so close together so even though brown is a good walk it has the most advantages

Think I am going to try Blue/Red this year. The previous 3 years I have been, I have camped in Orange twice and the other time right next to Piccadilly Party (worst idea ever) . Yellow I've never been too fond off just because it seems too detached from the other campsites, but I might give it a bash one year. The reason I am moving from Orange this year is because I don't fancy climbing that big muddy Mt. Everest when its been ****ing it down all week/weekend.

Do the closer campsites (orange, red etc.) fill up early? About 30 of us are arriving late afternoon thursday - still want somewhere interesting to camp though!

I think you'll be fine, we didn't manage to get camped in a 'circle' last year but all our tents were together just odd tent between us etc

Okay, thanks! We're not too bothered about space, just want to make sure we can get a decent place

I may be super lazy, but I'm intrigued by what you define as far if Orange is 'close' :P You'll prolly be fine in Orange/Purple. Pushing it a bit more with closer ones such as Red or Blue

Orange is a trek!!!! I'm a strong walker, but walking back and forth between the arena and orange is hard work. Takes you past the village with all the stalls and whatnot, and a million people walk that way so it's usually quite sticky. Also isn't very handy if you just want to nip back to your tent in between bands. Saying that, I camped in orange for my first 2 Leeds Festivals (I've been every year since 08) with a group of about 15 and it was a lot of fun. My only gripe being that on Sunday, it seems to me that Orange is one of the more volatile campsites. Sunday afternoon I started seeing a lot of people throwing quite heavy things, and one year it turned into a bit of a warzone, with gas cannisters being thrown into fires causing a number of quite unnerving explosions. At Leeds 10 I moved to red. Was in a very small group, was just 4 of us in 3 tents. Was much more relaxed than orange, but still very vibrant. Closer of course. Last year we tried yellow. Group of about 12. My favourite campsite so far, if purely because of it's location. It's ideal for going between the arena and camp, and because it's isolated from the other campsites the whole festival isn't constantly walking through it. Wasn't crazy as I had been led to believe for a few years. Hoping to pitch up in near enough the exact same spot as we got last year. But then again, each campsite is relatively large and it all depends on the people who are camping there of course. There's no real trend or rule to it. For 99 out of 100 people though, the festival is what you (and your mates) make of it. Have fun. DBAA (Don't be an asshole)

The first year I went to Leeds (2010) I camped in yellow. It was great because it was close to the arena (siesta in the afternoon is brilliant). However it was very noisy but I can live that - hey it's a festival and it's meant to be loud. But I was really scared by the fires in the campsite. Last year and this, I rest my head in Leeds. A soft comfy bed and a toilet that is used only by me.

Yellow's really well looked after, security are great. I usually stay there when I'm not in staff camping.

I've been in red for the last few years but given I'm getting old now and the funfair induced lack of sleep got to me a little last year, we're heading for Green or Purple this year. It's looking like its going to be wet again though and I just wondered what these campsites are like. Would anyone who was in Green or Purple last year be able to tell me the choice spots in these sites or where to avoid?

Don't camp near a tree. Unless you like waking up to the smell of urine!

Stayed in yellow 3 years running and it’s getting better every year. First year was mental for fires and gas incidents. Security where great last year and made the camp site feel really safe considering its one of the most lively! For quiet camping, the further from the arena you camp, the quieter it tends to be but then the downside is, you have a longer walk every day to and from the main arena.
