asheerdrop You can get a bag of frozen chicken breasts from Tesco (and from Asda, but I find the Tesco ones nicer) that's £4.49 for 1kg I think it is? I usually end up with 4/5 HUGE ones in it, that could easily each be enough for 2 people when it's with something else (and you're not greedy like me) Thing with these is most of that weight is made up from injecting the bird with saline before freezing, takes the weight up and when you cook it, it becomes a bit stringy and loses its texture. The nutritional value is kind of negative when they do this, its disgusting they can, absolutely no additional weight should be allowed to be added.

Usually try to get fruit, veg and meat from the market as it's so much cheaper and generally better quality

So many chicken fillets are filled up with water to make them appear bigger and heavier, it's why they shrink so much when you cook them. I love getting our fruit and veg from the market, we get loads and it comes to like £3.50 haha.

we don't get any meat from the supermarket anymore, its so watery and tasteless, especialy the chicken our butcher does a deal where if you buy £35 worth of meat you get £5 free so we get that on payday and that last us the month then we just get our veg from the green grocer round the corner, its so much nice and cheaper

I remember getting "real" chicken from butchers for first time in ages, when I opened it it stunk, of chicken, but I was toying with the idea it was off because it smelt of it, thats how out of tune I was with what meat should smell like!

There's a veg stand in the Grainger market that does a 10% student discount. It's so good there, I've never spent more than £4 and I always buy loads. As Steve said, the whole chicken thing is a good plan. In the market in town they do 2 chickens for £4 and you can freeze one, cook the other and then just pick at it. The best thing recently has been the new Waitrose in Jesmond. I popped in quite late one night and there was amazing reductions on all the meat. It's really good quality there too. I got meatballs, two packs of lamb shoulder, 8 pork steaks, 2 chops and some mince for under £6. Most of that went in the freezer and it's still doing us well now.

http://www.approvedfood.co.uk/ I've just found this site, approved by moneysavingexpert. Seems really good for buying things in bulk. I use a lot of wraps and you can get 4 packs of 8 for £1, thats 25p a pack! And all because the display date has passed, thats not even use by date! Could be good for those wanting to get good healthy stuff to eat on the cheap

Oo that is such a good idea. There is a few good deals but i dont think theres anything worth us stocking up on. The wraps is a billiant deal. I'm finding myself more drawn to the snacks and other naughty things though. Herbs and spices are always a good thing to keep stocked up on though. Will keep that site bookmarked, ta.

I just tried some shorts on that were a size 14 (Hannah bought them and they were too big so I'm slimming down to fit into them) and they fit. A little bit tight but still. I haven't been a size 14 since I was 12.

Just popped off the Wii Fit and have lost 1st 5lb since I last went on (August) & 9lb in 2 weeks! Been using the myfitnesspal app on my phone to track my calories, eating 1250-1500 a day & gymming it as often as work allows. Makes a nice change to actually be going the right way on the scales!

Okay I think I am gonna join the uni gym as it's £66 from now, until the end of July which is alright price wise and my parents will pay it for my birthday. Just need to get over my fear of being seen doing sport in public cos I know I'm unfit. Should be alright cos I'll be using the city campus facilities rather than the stuff up in Headerz with all the pe studies lot.

I looked at the dancesoc classes today and considered beginners ballet then saw that it was inconvenient with my timetable and remembered my shoes are in Newcastle so I dropped the idea after about 30 seconds.

I think it's something like the minimun postage is £5 ish and that covers up to 25kg's in weight. I havent found enough i'd want to order to make it worth while really, but it's a good idea. Ive just been raiding home bargains for their goodies lately.
